Bad weather forced many women's basketball teams to adjust their game schedules this past week; however, several were able to adapt to Mother Nature and had student-athletes turn in some strong performances from around Minnesota College Athletic Conference.  

Adidas, the United States Marine Corps and Nicklasson Athletic Company sponsor the MCAC Athlete-of-the-Week awards, and proudly honor the following student-athletes for their performances this past week on behalf of their teams.

Lindsey Murphy

Soph. / Guard

Necedah,WI

 

The Performance:  Sophomore standout Lindsey Murphy helped lead the nationally ranked women's basketball team at Western Technical College to a strong pair of wins. 

Murphy led the Cavaliers with an impressive 38 points in just 46 minutes of work for the week.  The Necedah, Wisconsin product also collected five steals, dished out eight assists and hauled in seven rebounds.  She shot 61.5% from behind the arc in contests against SCTCC and Ridgwater.  

Western Tech will face Riverland and Minnesota West this week in a pair of Southern Divison match-ups.

Haley Hansen

Soph. / Forward

Iron, MN

 

 

The Performance:  Sophomore forward Haley Hansen and the Mesabi Range College women's basketball team picked up a pair of key conference wins this past week. 

The sophomore from Iron, Minnesota scored 50 points while hauling in an impressive 32 rebounds for the Norse. Hansen went 24-for-35 from the floor for the week and blocked five shots. 

Hansen led Mesabi Range to a 70-64 win over Itasca Community College and a 56-54 win over Lake Superior College in Northern Division action.
