MCAC Women's Basketball: Athletes-of-the-Week

Women's basketball programs around the Minnesota College Athletic Conference had a chance to virtually lock-in post-season placements for the upcoming Region XIIIA and XIIIB tournaments; two student-athletes stood out from the crowd in their efforts to help their squads this past week. 

Adidas, the United States Marine Corps and Nicklasson Athletic Company sponsor the MCAC Athlete-of-the-Week awards, and proudly honor the following student-athletes for their performances this past week on behalf of their teams.

Carly Mekash

Soph. / Forward

The Performance:  Northland's multi-sport standout Carly Mekash put together an outstanding week for the Pioneers in two Northern Division contests, including a big win over nationally-ranked Rainy River Community College

In two contests, the Greenbush, Minnesota sophomore was 22-of-33 from the field and 10-of-15 from the charity stripe. In addition to her 65 total points, Mekash hauled in 14 rebounds and had four assists, along with five steals. 

The Pioneers, 12-1 in MCAC Northern Division play, will close out their regular season when they host Lake Superior College on Saturday, January 22.

Kamryn D'Heilly

Annandale, MN

                                                                         

The Performance:         

Kamryn D'Heilly was dominant on the boards for St. Cloud Technical & Community College in a 1-1 week for the Cyclones. 

D'Heilly hauled in an impressive 37 total rebounds in two contests, while also scoring 49 total points.  The Annandale, Minnesota product also registered three blocks on the week, while going 19-32 from the field overall. 

D'Heilly and her team will conclude the 2019-20 MCAC regular season against Riverland Community College on Saturday, February 22.
