Women's basketball programs around the Minnesota College Athletic Conference wrapped up the 2019-20 regular season and several programs will move on to upcoming 2019-20 NJCAA Region XIIIA and XIIIB tournaments this weekend.  Two MCAC student-athletes stood out from the crowd in their efforts to help their squads finish their season in strong fashion this past week. 

Adidas, the United States Marine Corps and Nicklasson Athletic Company sponsor the MCAC Athlete-of-the-Week awards, and proudly honor the following student-athletes for their performances this past week on behalf of their teams.

The Performance:  Rainy River wrapped up the 2019-20 regular season with two wins, thanks in large part to freshman forward Alyssa Herrera

In two contests, the Cuba, New Mexico product averaged 30 point per game, 12 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists each outing and 2.5 steals per game in wins over Itasca Community College and Central Lakes College.

The Voyageurs, 12-1 in MCAC Northern Division play, head into NJCAA Region XIIIB post-season this week.

The Performance:  Western Tech concluded the 2019-20 regular season with two important wins on the week, including handing Anoka-Ramsey Community College it's first and only MCAC loss this year. 

Lexi Schmidtknecht was a catalyst in the strong week for the Cavaliers; the sophomore from Fountain City, Wisconsin scored 19 points and hauled in four rebounds in 23 minutes of action against the Golden Rams. 

Schmidtknecht and Western Technical College will travel to Coon Rapids, Minnesota this weekend for the 2019-20 NJCAA Region XIIIA post-season tournament.
