The 2019-20 NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship seeding and bracket information was released Thursday, March 5, and two programs within the Minnesota College Athletic Conference now know their next assignment.
The Northland Community & Technical College Pioneers (20-5 overall) were granted the No. 4 seed for the championship tournament and will face North Country Community College in quarterfinal action. Northland is making their 11th appearance in the national tournament, which is third-most among active NJCAA Division III women's basketball programs. With a first-round win, head coach Shannon Nelson and her squad would face the winner of the No. 1 - No. 8 game, featuring top-seeded Massasoit (CT) and No. 8 Cedar Valley (TX). Northland has won their last ten contests.
Western Technical College (22-6 overall) qualified for their second-consecutive NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship. First-year head coach Brent Thill and his Cavalier team were awarded the No. 6 seed and are scheduled to face No. 3 Hostos. Western Tech has won their last three contests, twice defeating Anoka-Ramsey Community College and dropping Minnesota West CTC over the past 10 days. With an upset of Hostos, the Cavaliers would earn the right to play the winner of No. 2 Rock Valley and No. 7 Passaic County.
