MCAC Wrestling Programs Head to National Tournament This Weekend

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference wrestling season concluded recently with the 2019-20 North District Tournament, hosted by Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.  At the event, several student-athletes earned they way to the 2019-20 NJCAA Wrestling National Championships, to be held at the Mid-America Center, Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 6-7.

The NJCAA Wrestling Championship website includes key details, such as the event Live Stream link, updated brackets during the competition and more, courtesy of FLO Wrestling and the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. 

North District champion Rochester Community & Techncial College leads the way for the five MCAC programs, with nine Yellowjackets set to compete this weekend: Francis Fuenffinger (125); Parker Dobrocky (133); Auston Hall (141); Brandon Kidd Jr. (149); Seth Brossard (165).; Jeremiah Colon (174); Gavin Christofferson (184); Richard Hammonds (197) and John Noll (285).

Northland Community & Technical College - the runner-up team at the 2019-20 North District Tournament - will send six student-athletes: Austin Thompson (125); Payton Jackson (133); Jerimiah Pierre (149); Raul Chavarry (157); Kaven Blazek and Andre Baguma (285).

Six Itasca Community College Vikings will also compete in Council Bluffs; Jamaal Baird (141); Davion Barnes (157); Austin Voss (157); Larry Sanchez (174); Dalton Bernett (184) and Chase Dressel (197).

Minnesota West Community & Technical College has four wrestlers in the 2019-20 NJCAA Wrestling Championships; Chris Romero (125) Eliot Jurries (141); Chase Dorman (149) and Braydon Johnson (157) will represent the Blue Jays in Iowa this year. 

Carston Toedter and Charlie Farhat from Ridgewater College will wrestle for the Warriors at the 174 lbs. and 285 lbs. divisions, respectively.

Earlier this year, wrestling programs from the Minnesota College Athletic Conference competed in their MCAC Dual Championships held mid-season this year; RCTC claimed top honors at 4-0, followed by Northland CTC (3-1), Itasca Community College (2-2), Minnesota West CTC (1-3) and Ridgewater College (0-4).
