Full Weekend Ahead for MCAC Volleyball

The weekend of Friday October 6th and Saturday October 7th represents a full - and important - set of matches in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference volleyball ranks.  

A handful of programs are stepping outside of Conference play this week, as the bye weekend in the league rotation falls in the calendar. 

Ridgewater College - ranked 6th nationally - traveled to Richardson, Texas to take part in the Richland Community College Thunderduck Classic Tournament.  The Warriors will face Seminole State, Vernon College, Richland College and Pratt Community College during their time in the Lone Star State. 

Anoka-Ramsey Community College will face off against Minnesota West CTC tonight in MCAC action, and then will travel on to take part in the North Iowa Area Community College Tournament, occurring in Mason City Iowa.   The Golden Rams will see Ellsworth CC and NIACC during their swing through Iowa.  ARCC is still searching for their first MCAC victory, while Minnesota West is 4-3 in the MCAC Southern Division. 

M-State is coming off of an impressive mid-week win over #4  St. Cloud Technical and Community College and will play one match this weekend, when they host the Concordia College JV team.  The Spartans were ranked #9 in this week's NJCAA poll and will likely move up the ranks with the win over the CyclonesSCTCC will look to rebound from Wednesday's loss when they play Western Technical College on Friday at home.  Despite dropping their mid-week match to M-State, St. Cloud Technical and Community College is still in the drivers seat of the Southern Division, with an 8-1 Divisional mark.

The Northern Division is home to several MCAC matches on Friday, October 6th and Saturday October 7th.  Rainy River Community College will travel to Cloquet to take on Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College at 6:30pm.  After hosting RRCC, the Thunder will turn around on Saturday and go to Hibbing Community College for a noon contest against the CardinalsHibbing will also be in action on Friday night, when they head to Grand Rapids to play Itasca Community College.  Friday night will also feature Vermilion Community College visiting Northland CTC for a 6:30pm Northern Division tilt. One match with significant playoff implications is the Mesabi Range vs. Northland CTC matchup at 1pm on Saturday in Thief River Falls.  Fifth-ranked Central Lakes stands alone as the only program unbeaten in MCAC play, and will host Vermilion on Saturday.
