MCAC Honors Week Two Volleyball Athletes-of-the-Week

Minnesota College Athletic Conference volleyball teams recently wrapped up their second full week of contests in the 2018 season, and several student-athletes rose above their peers with their play on the court.  The best of those performances have been tabbed as various Athletes-of-the-Week in MCAC Volleyball for the week ending on Sunday, September 2.

Hannah Dietsch

Northland CTC 

 

MCAC Setter-of-the-Week

Hannah Dietsch was a key part of the Northland Community & Technical College 3-0 shutout over Northern Division rival Itasca Community College and has earned MCAC Setter-of-the-Week for her efforts. 

Dietsch dished out 15 assists and was a perfect 2-for-2 in kill attempts against the Vikings.  With the win, NCTC sits atop the Northern Division standings at 1-0 in MCAC play and is an impressive 6-1 overall in 2018. 

Northland will tangle with fellow league-leader Central Lakes College on Wednesday, September 5.  Match time is set for 6:30pm

 

                                  

 

Jessica Lemke

Ridgewater College 

MCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week

Jessica Lemke currently leads the MCAC in digs-per-set at 5.91 and has put together a strong set of performances for Ridgewater College to earn Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors. 

Lemke's 57 digs over the course of the week that included a Ridgewater win over Bethel University JV as well as losses to Minnesota West and Central Lakes College. 

Ridgewater College and Lemke will take on M State-Fergus Falls at 6:30pm 

 

 

 

Haley Hansen

Iron, MN

Mesabi Range College

MCAC Hitter-of-the-Week

Haley Hansen, a freshman from Iron, Minnesota, has earned Hitter-of-the-Week in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference. 

Hansen helped lead Mesabi Range College to a Northern Division victory over Rainy River Community College with 11 kills, four blocks and a .200%, as the Norse collected a 3-1 victory in International Falls. 

MRC and Hansen will return to MCAC Northern Division play this week when they take on Vermilion Community College on Tuesday, September 4 at 6:30pm

 

Paige Wallevand

So. / Setter/Hitter

Henning, MN

Central Lakes College

MCAC All-Around Player-of-the-Week

Paige Wallevand, a sophomore from Central Lakes College has been tabbed the All-Around Player-of-the-Week in MCAC Volleyball for the week ending Sunday, September 5. 

Wallevand had 20 kills with only 4 errors on the week, while hitting at a .275% clip.  She also dished out 79 assists and collected 40 digs.  In addition, the Henning, Minnesota product had six blocks and six aces in support of the Raider efforts.

CLC will face off with Northland CTC on Wednesday September 5 at 6:30 in an important Northern Division match-up.
