The week of September 17-23 provided fans, families and followers of MCAC Volleyball several opportunities to watch some of best NJCAA Division III programs in the country.
Top ranked Central Lakes College, #6 M State-Fergus Falls, #10 Northland CTC and (RV) Rochester CTC all were found taking to the court to take on both non-Confernece and MCAC opponents. The best performances in a busy week of volleyball have been tabbed as Players-of-the-Week.

Setter-of-the-Week
Brekkin McCready Fr. / Setter St. Charles, MN

Setter-of-the-Week Brekkin McCready led the RCTC Yellowjackets to a 4-0 week - all 3-0 wins - including a victory over M State-Fergus Falls, currently #6 in the latest poll. The freshman setter from St. Charles, Minnesota had 7 service aces, a 95.3% serving percentage, along with 155 set assists. She also collected 40 digs, good for a 3.3 digs-per-set average this past week. McCready contributed 17.5 points towards the perfect weekly Rochester run, which featured two non-conference wins against Viterbo and Luther JV teams, and two MCAC Southern Division victories. Rochester currently is 5-0 in the Southern Division, 11-4 overall. The Yellowjackets will face Bethel's JV team on Wednesday, September 26. |
Hitter-of-the-Week Ashley Daniels Soph./Outside Hitter Hibbing, MN

Hitter-of-the-Week Ashley Daniels helped her Hibbing Community College Cardinal team do something in the MCAC Northern Division that has not been done much of late; stretch No.1 ranked Central Lakes College to 5 games in a recent 3-2 HCC setback to the Raiders. The sophomore outside hitter from Hibbing, Minnesota racked up 13 kills in the contest, only one error, finishing with a .462 hitting percentage on the night. She also chipped in 17 digs and led her team in points, with 14. Daniels and Hibbing currently sit at 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the Northern Division, and will take on Vermilion Community College and Itasca Community College on Wednesday, September 26 and Friday, September 28, respectively. |
Defensive Player-of-the-Week Taylor Berndt Fr. / Defensive Specialist Pelican Rapids, MN

Defensive Player-of-the-Week Taylor Berndt, a defensive specialist for Minnesota State Community & Technical College claimed Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors for her role in a 2-1 week for the Spartans. Berndt had 53 digs across three matches for M State, including 25 against Western Technical College and 23 against Rochester Community & Technical College. Berndt and her Spartan teammates travel to Coon Rapids on Wednesday to take on the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Golden Rams. Matchtime is set for 6:30pm.

All-Around Player-of-the-Week
Paige Wallevand So. / Setter-Hitter Henning, MN

MCAC All-Around Player-of-the-Week Paige Wallevand, a sophomore from Central Lakes College has been tabbed the All-Around Player-of-the-Week in MCAC Volleyball for the week ending Sunday, September 23. Wallevand - from Henning, Minnesota - had 60 assists, 13 kills with only one error and hit for a .462% clip, along with four blocks. She also contributed 22 digs in Central Lakes 2-0 MCAC Northern Division week, in which they moved to 14-1 overall and unbeaten in Conference play. They are currently No. 1 in the country in the NJCAA poll.
