Defensive Player-of-the-Week Hailey Tihlarik Fr. / Libero Onamia, MN

Central Lakes College stepped out of Conference play to take on several NJCAA Division II programs over the weekend, and sophomore libero Hailey Tihlarik was equal to the task. Tihlarik collected an amazing 109 digs over four contests in North Dakota, averaging 6.4 digs per set. Her weekend was highlighted by a 37-dig performance in a 3-2 Raider win over Williston State College. Central Lakes will close out MCAC Northern Division play with matches against Rainy River Community College and Hibbing Community College this week.

In their only match of the week, RCTC relied on Carrie Rutledge to provide the firepower in their Rutledge had 14 kills and chipped in 8 digs for the Yellowjackets, en route to a .520 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over MnWest. With the victory, Rutledge and Rochester ran their MCAC Southern Division tally to 9-0 on the year. RCTC will close out the MCAC Southern Division regular season with three matches this week; Western Technical, Ridgewater College and M State-Fergus Falls. |
Setter-of-the-Week Morgan Balder Fr. / Setter Onamia, MN

Morgan Balder has played a key role in the Cardinals' current nine-game winning streak, igniting the Hibbing offense with consistent play. Balder averaged 8.97 set assists per set over the past week which were highlighted in three wins for the Cardinals; a pair of 3-0 triumphs over Gogebic Community College and Rainy River and a 3-1 win over Mesabi Range College. Hibbing closes out the MCAC Northern Division schedule with a pair of key matches against nationally-ranked Northland CTC and Central Lakes College.

In preparation for the post-season, Northland CTC stepped out of Conference play to test themselves against several NJCAA Division II programs over the weekend, and Carly Mekash stepped up for the Pioneers. Mekash had 12 kills, an ace, 16 digs and three blocks against Lake Region State and added another six kills, 19 digs and two blocks in their match against Williston State College. She added another eight kills, 13 digs and a block against DCB and finished the weekend with 15 kills, 21 digs and two blocks against Miles Community College. Mekash and NCTC will face Hibbing and Rainy River to close out the regular season this week. |
