MCAC Volleyball Standouts Earn All-America Status

Six volleyball student-athletes from the Minnesota College Athletic Conference ranks were named to the 2019 NJCAA Division III Volleyball All-America teams, as announced Wednesday, December 4th by the NJCAA Division III Volleyball committee. 

Two MCAC programs, Rochester Community & Technical College and Central Lakes College, both advanced to the 2019 NJCAA Division III National Championships and each school had two players named to the NJCAA First Team.  RCTC's Carrie Rutledge and Brekkin McCready earned 2019 NJCAA First Team placement; both student-athletes are sophomores and Rutledge's selection is her second First Team All-America award in as many seasons.  Central Lakes College had Sydney Berg and Hailey Tihlarik each received First Team honors; both Raiders are sophomores as well. Berg and Tihlarik led Central Lakes to a Northern Division title and Region XIII B championship for head coach Jane Peterson's 29th season in Brainerd. 

The lone MCAC representative on the 2019 NJCAA Division III Volleyball All-America Second Team was Minnesota State-Fergus Falls sophomore Sydney Hovland; the Spartan setter notched 775 assists this season.

Mesabi Range College sophomore Montana Baker nabbed 2019 NJCAA Division III Volleyball All-America Honorable Mention honors; Baker was one of six student-athletes to garner Honorable Mention status.
