Cyclones win Region XIII Title; Now World Series Bound

St. Cloud, MN -

The  2021 St. Cloud Technical and Community College Cyclone Baseball team is on the way to the NJCAA Division III World Series after winning the Region XIII/ North Plains District championship on May 22nd.

The Cyclones hosted the Region XIII and North Plains District tournament in St. Cloud May 14-15, and May 20-22 at Dick Putz Field and Joe Faber Field. The Cyclones took down M-State Fergus Falls and Rochester in an extra inning affair on the first weekend. The Cyclones march to the championship began with a 11-1 victory over Itasca. The Cyclones then overcame a 4-1 deficit in the 8th inning to defeat Century College 10-4. Century entered the second weekend ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA Poll while SCTCC came in at #9 in the same poll.

Championship Saturday started off with Century defeating the Cyclones 8-3 forcing a winner take all final game. The Cyclones regrouped and defeated Century in the final game by a final score of 8-2.

Jason Fischer earned Region 13 Coach of the Year Honors. Dylan Haskamp was named Tournament MVP.

The Cyclones will open up NJCAA World Series action on Saturday May 29th when they face Niagara County Community College (NY). The first pitch is scheduled for 7pm Central Time.
