U.S. Marines MCAC Athletes-of-the-Week Announced: Week of February 7 - 13

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its athlete-of-the-week awards for the week of February 7 - 13.  The weekly athlete-of-the-week awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines

Quamar Gresham, freshman point guard, led his Central Lakes College Raiders to a 2-0 record during the week.  Tallying 53 points and 15 rebounds for the week, Gresham earns the MCAC North Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor.

Rainy River Community College sophomore guard, Arcadya Conway, earns the week's MCAC North Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award.  In her lone game of the week, Conway scored 20 points and pulled down 20 rebounds, leading her team to a win over North rival Itasca Community College.

Shooting 75% on 15 of 20 from the field and leading his Riverland Community College team to two crucial victories, Lajarrion Spinks deserves this week's MCAC South Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week.  The freshman forward scored 37 points for his Blue Devils, and also grabbed 7 rebounds and 2 steals during the week.

Kandace Sikkink, freshman forward for Rochester Community and Technical College, earns the MCAC South Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor.  Sikkink scored 40 points and pulled down 28 rebounds in the Yellowjackets three road wins during the week.

This week's MCAC Wrestling Athlete-of-the-Week honor goes to Rocco Visci from Rochester Community and Technical College. Visci, wrestling at 125 lbs., took 3rd place at the Eau Claire Open and had a pin against NIACC's Cruz Aguilar in the RCTC - NIACC Dual.

Central Lakes College freshman point guard, Quamar Gresham, scored 53 points in the Raiders two wins last week.  The St. Cloud, MN, product also had 15 rebounds, 5 steals, and 6 assists in 62 minutes of action. Gresham is this week's MCAC North Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week. 

The Raiders have a 14-10 overall record and a 10-2 record in MCAC play.  They return to the court on Wednesday at Vermilion Community College.

Arcadya Conway, sophomore guard for Rainy River Community College, has been named the MCAC North Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week.  The Houston, Texas baller scored 20 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, and had 6 steals in her 40 minutes of play.  She also assisted on 5 baskets.

Rainy River is now 11-9 on the season, 5-2 in conference play, and plays at Mesabi Range College in the Voyageurs' final regular season game on Wednesday.

Nataj Sanders (MBB, SF, Mesabi Range College): 26 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.

Lajarrion Spinks, freshman forward at Riverland Community College, hit 15 of 20 shots (75%) to score 37 points in two important wins for the Blue Devils. He earns this week's MCAC South Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor.  From Monroe, LA, Spinks also had 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks to help his team win the MCAC South Division title. 

The Blue Devils are now 23-1 overall and 11-0 in MCAC action, and they take the court again on Wednesday when they host Western Technical College.

Rochester Community and Technical College forward, Kandace Sikkink, scored 40 points while leading her team to three road wins last week.  The freshman from Preston, MN, earns the MCAC South Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award.  Sikkink also ripped down 28 rebounds and had 3 assists and 3 steals to cap off the week.  

The Yellowjackets are 18-5 overall and 11-1 in conference play.  They next play again on Wednesday when they host Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

Keivonte Watts (MBB, SG, Rochester CTC): 32 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal.

Ashley Prahl (WBB, F, Ridgewater College): 45 points, 18 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Jayna Gronewold (WBB, PG, M-State Fergus Falls): 31 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and a steal.

Rocco Visci, 125-pound wrestler for Rochester Community and Technical College, earns this week's MCAC Wrestling Athlete-of-the-Week honor.  The freshman from Big Lake, MN, wrestled his way to a third place finish at the Eau Claire Open and then pinned North Iowa Area Community College's Cruz Aguilar to help his Yellowjackets win the RCTC-NIACC dual last week.

Rochester Community and Technical College returns to the mat on Sunday at the MCAC Championships in Willmar, MN.
