U.S. Marines MCAC Softball Athletes of the Week: Week of March 14 - 20

Rochester, MN –

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has announced its MCAC Softball Pitchers and Players-of-the-Week for the week of March 14-20.  The MCAC Softball Athletes of the Week Award is sponsored by the U.S. Marines

Rainy River Community College student-athletes bring home both of the MCAC North awards this week.  Presley Frost, a freshman pitcher for the Voyageurs went 1-1 in her two starts, striking out 12 batters and compiling a 4.81 ERA.  She picks up the MCAC North Pitcher of the Week honor.  Frost's catcher, Jordan Cobbe, went 2 for 5 from the plate with two runs and a walk.  Her defense behind the plate prevented opponents from stealing and earns her the MCAC North Player-of-the-Week award. 

Hailey Babcock, Anoka-Ramsey Community College shortstop, earns this week's MCAC South Division Player of the Week honor.  She went 5 for 8 from the plate with 2 doubles, a run, and a stolen base.

North Division 

Pitcher- and Player-of-the-Week

Presley Frost

Freshman / RHP

Cortez, CO

 

 

Presley Frost, freshman pitcher for Rainy River Community College, started two games and appeared in a third last week striking out 12 in her 16 innings.  The Cortez, CO native compiled a 4.81 ERA and is named the MCAC North Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week. Frost also went 3 for 7 from the plate with 4 RBI and a homerun.

The Voyageurs are 1-2 on the season, and they take the field again on Thursday at the Minnesota Classic in Blaine, MN. 

 

 

 

Jordan Cobbe

Freshman / C

Austin, TX

 


Jordan Cobbe, catcher from Austin, TX earns the MCAC North Player-of-the-Week award. The Rainy River Community College freshman went 2 for 5 from the plate with 2 runs and a walk.  Her strong defensive performance behind the plate, along with her powerful arm, discouraged opponents from attempting to steal. 

The Voyageurs are 1-2 on the season, and they take the field again on Thursday at the Minnesota Classic in Blaine, MN.                          

 

 

 

South Division

Hailey Babcock

Freshman /SS

Blaine, MN

 

 

Hailey Babcock, freshman shortstop for Anoka-Ramsey Community College, went 5 for 8 from the plate, hitting .625 on the week, with two doubles and a stolen base.  The Blaine, MN product scored a run, and had 4 putouts and 3 assists defensively for the Golden Rams to earn the MCAC South Player-of-the-Week award. 

The Golden Rams are 4-7 on the season, and they take the field again on Tuesday against Bay College at the Health Fairview Dome in Blaine, MN.
