U.S. Marines MCAC Softball Athletes of the Week: Week of March 21 - 27

Rochester, MN –

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has announced its MCAC Softball Pitchers and Players-of-the-Week for the week of March 21-27.  The MCAC Softball Athletes of the Week Award is sponsored by the U.S. Marines

Central Lakes College student-athletes sweep the MCAC North awards this week.  Marissa Callahan, a freshman pitcher for the Raiders, went 1-1 in her two appearances, striking out 8 batters in 9 innings of work.  She picks up the MCAC North Pitcher of the Week honor.  Raider designated player, Addie Sanford, went 6 for 8 from the plate with a home run and two doubles to pick up the MCAC North Player-of-the-Week award. 

Kamille Dougherty, St. Cloud Technical & Community College pitcher, earns this week's MCAC South Division Pitcher of the Week award after her strong performances from the circle. In her two appearances, Dougherty did not give up a run while striking out 13.  Anoka-Ramsey Community College center fielder, Emma Bright, earns this week's MCAC South Division Player of the Week honor.  She went 15 for 21 from the plate with 2 doubles, a triple, and 10 stolen bases.

North Division 

Pitcher- and Player-of-the-Week

Marissa Callahan

Freshman / RHP

Browerville, MN

 

 

Marissa Callahan, freshman pitcher for Central Lakes College, had one start and one relief appearnance last week, going 1-1 in her 9 innings of work.  Callahan, from Browerville, MN struck out 8 batters and gave up 8 hits and 6 runs on the week.  She is named the MCAC North Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week. 

The Raiders are 3-6 on the season, and they take the field again on Friday at the RCTC Crossover Tournament in Rochester, MN. 

 

 

 

Addie Sanford

Freshman / DP

Aitken, MN

 


Addie Sanford, designate player from Aitken, MN earns the MCAC North Player-of-the-Week award. The Central Lakes College second-year freshman went 6 for 8 from the plate (.750 batting average) with a home run, three doubles, 8 RBI, and 2 runs. 

The Raiders are 3-6 on the season, and they return to action on Friday in Rochester, MN at the RCTC Crossover.

Taylor Shepard (Pitcher, Itasca CC): 1-2 in 3 starts, struck out 18 while walking only 4.

Emma Hurd (C/SS, Itasca CC): .591 BA with 3 doubles, a triple, 5 RBI, and 4 stolen bases.

Riley Roden (OF, Vermilion CC): 3 for 6 with a double, a home run, 3 RBI, and 2 runs.

 

 

South Division

Kamille Dougherty

Sartell, MN

 

Kamille Dougherty earns this week's MCAC South Pitcher of the Week honor after picking up two wins in her 12 innings of scoreless pitching.  The St. Cloud Technical and Community College freshman from Sartell, MN struck out 13 and walked only two batters, while compiling a 0.00 ERA.  Dougherty also hit .438 with 3 home runs, 3 doubles, 6 RBI and 7 runs.

The Cyclones, with their perfect 12-0 record, take the field again on Friday at the RCTC Crossover in Rochester, MN.

Emma Bright

Freshman /CF

Anoka, MN

 

 

Emma Bright, freshman center fielder for Anoka-Ramsey Community College, hit .714 from the plate during the week, going 15 for 21 with a triple and 2 doubles.  The speedster from Anoka, MN also stole 10 bases also scored 12 runs with 2 RBI to earn the MCAC South Player-of-the-Week award. 

The Golden Rams are 9-8 on the year, and they take the field again on Friday in Rochester, MN at the RCTC Crossover.

Rainna Stangle (C/3B, SCTCC): .700 BA, 3 doubles, a triple, 5 HR, and 18 RBI

Journey Smith (CF, RCTC): 3 for 7 with a triple and a home run, stole 5 bases, and 6 RBI

Molly Gross (RHP, ARCC): 2-0 in 3 appearances, 0 ER, 11 hits, 28 strikeouts, gave up only 5 runs

Tarrin Stephans (RHP, RCTC): 5 innings pitched, 7 strikeouts, 2 ER, 2 hits, .300 BA with 2 doubles, 8 RBI
