U.S. Marines MCAC Softball Athletes of the Week: Week of April 25 - May 1

Rochester, MN –

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has announced its MCAC Softball Pitchers and Players-of-the-Week for the week of April 25 - May 1.  The MCAC Softball Athletes of the Week Award is sponsored by the U.S. Marines

Itasca Community College athletes sweep the MCAC North Division awards this week and continue their undefeated record in divisional play.  Pitcher Izzy Clark earns the week's MCAC North Division Pitcher-of-the-Week award with her 1.11 ERA over 19 innings. She struck out 24 while walking only 3, and hit .400 scoring 7 runs for her Vikings.  Emma Hurd, catcher/shortstop, hit .692 with 3 doubles and a home run to earn the MCAC North Division Player-of-the-Week

Molly Gross, Anoka-Ramsey Community College pitcher, won her 9th and 10th games of the season without giving up an earned run and striking out 18.  She picks up the MCAC South Division Pitcher-of-the-Week honor with her performances through the week.  Teammate Emma Bright, centerfielder for the Golden Rams, went 11 for 13 at the plate with a double, a home run, and 8 stolen bases to earn this week's MCAC South Division Player-of-the-Week award.

North Division 

Pitcher- and Player-of-the-Week

Izzy Clark

Freshman / Pitcher

Cornell, WI

 

 

Izzy Clark, freshman pitcher for Itasca Community College, picked up 4 wins during the week, throwing 19 innings and giving up only 3 earned runs.  The Cornell, WI product struck out 24 batters and walked only 3. At the plate, Clark was impressive as well, hitting .400 with a double and 4 RBI. She scored 7 runs and stole 2 bases, while walking 5 times, and is named the MCAC North Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week. 

The Vikings are 14-11 overall and 9-0 in the MCAC North, and they are scheduled to take the field again on Wednesday against Northland Community & Technical College. 

 

 

 

Emma Hurd

Freshman / C-SS

North Branch, MN

 

 

Emma Hurd, Itasca Community College catcher/shortstop from North Branch, MN, earns the MCAC North Player-of-the-Week award. The freshman hit .692, going 9 for 13 from the plate with three doubles and a home run. Hurd scored 10 runs and drove in 7, adding 5 stolen bases and 4 walks to her stat line as well. 

The Vikings are 9-0 in the MCAC North and 14-11 overall.  They return to action on Wednesday when they host Northland Community & Technical College.

Molly Gross

Freshman / RHP

Columbia Heights, MN

 

 

Anoka-Ramsey Community College's pitcher, Molly Gross, has been named this week's MCAC South Pitcher of the Week. While picking up her 9th and 10th wins of the season, the freshman from Columbia Heights, MN, held opponents to 8 hits, giving up no earned runs, striking out 18 batters, and walking 2.  She also drove in 7 runs herself.

The Golden Rams are 23-10 on the season and 9-1 in the MCAC South.  They take the field again on Tuesday at St. Cloud Technical and Community College.

Emma Bright

Freshman / CF

Anoka, MN

 

 

Emma Bright, freshman center fielder for Anoka-Ramsey Community College, went 11 for 13 from the plate, hitting .846 with a double and a home run. The Anoka, MN native also had 2 RBI and 11 runs, while stealing 8 bases.  Bright earns the MCAC South Player-of-the-Week award. 

Anoka-Ramsey is now 9-1 in the MCAC South and 23-10 on the year.  They take the field again on Tuesday at St. Cloud Technical and Community College.

Other Notable Performers

Kenzie Olene (LHP/1B/RF, SCTCC): 12 IP, 3 runs, 1 earned run, 10 strikeouts, 0.58 weekly ERA, .583 BA.
