MCAC Football Athletes of the Week:  Week of September 5 - 11

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly football athletes of the week awards for the week of September 5 - 11. 

Jackson Owens, Central Lakes College freshman wide receiver, has been named the Offensive Player-of-the-Week.  Owens had 7 receptions for 167 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Raider's win over Rochester Community & Technical College.

Minnesota State Community & Technical College linebacker, Joquez Sanders, earned a Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor after compiling 15 tackles and a forced fumble in the Spartan's win over #3 North Dakota State College of Science.  Rashad Sherwood, defensive back for Central Lakes College, earned the other Defensive Player-of-the-Week award with his 6 tackles, one for a loss, a pass break-up, and an interception return of 78 yards for a touchdown. 

Carson McKnight earned the week's Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award.  The Minnesota State Community & Technical College kicker was 4 for 4 on extra points and 2 for 2 on field goals.  His 37 yard and 25 yard field goals both came in the second half to seal a win for the Spartans. 

Each week throughout the 2022 season, two offensive, two defensive, and a special teams athlete will be named players-of-the-week, based on nominations submitted by MCAC member football programs.

Noteworthy Information:  Jackson scored the game winning TD with 9 seconds remaining and gave Central Lakes their first win of the season.

Noteworthy Information: With his 15 total blocks, Joquez helped lead his team to a win over #3 NDSCS.

Noteworthy Information:  Carson kicked a 37 yard and 25 yard field goal in the 2nd half of the game to help the Spartans stay undefeated.
