MCAC Soccer Athletes of the Week: Week of October 3 - 9

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of October 3 - 9. 

Rochester Community & Technical College defender, Khloee Zelinske, earned the MCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award after scoring a goal on her only shot of the game. Zelinske's goal came in the 70th minute against NCAA D3 Buena Vista University, and defensively, she also helped her team earn a 2-2 tie in the game.  Haley Doyea, Rochester Community & Technical College midfielder, picked up the week's MCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award for scoring the game-tying goal in the 86th minute against Buena Vista University. This is her second straight week of earning the award.   

Riverland Community College goalkeeper, Bruno Velasquez Coelho, earns the MCAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week award after recording 15 saves while giving up only 2 goals in 135 minutes of action. Vitor Ferreira, midfielder for Riverland Community College, was named MCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Field Athlete of the Week.  Ferreira assisted on the Blue Devil's third goal in a win over Dakota County Technical College and played a vital role defensively in the team's two wins.  Lei Htoo, Riverland Community College forward, earns the MCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week honor. Htoo took 8 shots on goal, scoring on three of them, and also assisted on another 2 Blue Devil goals in his team's wins over Dakota County Technical College and Lake Superior College.

Noteworthy Information: Vitor was the key to Riverland's two wins this week. Along with his assist, Ferreira helped limit his opponents to one goal apiece in the two games.

Assists:  2

Noteworthy Information: Lei scored 3 goals and an assist in a win over Lake Superior College, and added another assist in the win over Dakota County Technical College.  He now has 7 goals and 5 assists on the season and became Riverland's all-time career goal scoring leader with 19 career goals.
