MCAC Soccer Athletes of the Week: Week of October 10 - 16

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of October 10 - 16. 

Rochester Community & Technical College goalkeeper, Jordan Weber, has been named the MCAC Women's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week. Saving 9 shots on 9 attempts in 90 minutes of work, Weber put together another shutout this season, leading the NJCAA with 7.  Rochester Community & Technical College center back, Amy Gonzalez, earned the MCAC Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award after leading the Yellowjacket defense to another shutout and a 0-0 tie against St. Mary University.  Lydia Steinbauer, forward for Lake Superior College, picked up the week's MCAC Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award after scoring 4 goals in 10 shots on goal and 17 shots overall.  The four goals were enough to secure a win for Lake Superior over Alexandria College.   

Riverland Community College's defender, Said Geelle, was named MCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Field Athlete of the Week.  Geelle scored a goal and assisted on another, while also putting together a strong defensive effort, to help his Blue Devils to two wins this week.  Pedro Marinho Brandao de Almeida, forward for Riverland Community College, earns the MCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week honor. Brandao de Almeida took 10 shots in two games with 5 on goal and scored two goals and assisted on another.

Noteworthy Information: Pedro scored Riverland's lone goal in a double overtime loss to Anoka-Ramsey, and then scored a goal and assisted on another in a win over Lake Superior. He leads the MCAC with 11 goals this season.
