MCAC Baseball Athletes of the Week: Week of May 1-7

Rochester, MN - 

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of May 1-7.

Riverland Community College right-handed pitcher, Hunter Vikemyr, has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Vikemyr picked up a win in his 5 innings on the mound, throwing another shutout while giving up only 5 hits and no walks.  He struck out 4.  Jared Grams, Riverland Community College shortstop, went 8 for 13 from the plate, hitting .615, with 4 doubles and a home run. Grams drove in 9 runners and scored 9 times with 3 walks to earn this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week honor.

Brock Depute, right-handed pitcher for Alexandria Technical & Community College, earned the MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor. Depute was 1-0 in his 10 innings of work, giving up only 5 hits and striking out 16. He did not give up an earned run in the game and only walked one.  Sam Etterman, center fielder for Ridgewater College, earned the week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.  Etterman went 9 for 18 from the plate, hitting .500, with a home run, two doubles, and 7 RBI. He scored 7 runs, stole 2 bases, and walked 3 times.

Marcus Kriek, right-handed pitcher for Minnesota North College - Rainy River, has earned this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. In his two starting appearances and 11 innings on the mound, Kriek gave up only one earned run and struck out 14, while walking 4 and giving up 8 hits. Minnesota North College - Rainy River DH/3B, Shane Erickson, hit .571, going 8 for 14 from the plate with a double and 2 home runs. Erickson also scored 6 runs, had 5 RBI and walked twice to earn the week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
