MCAC Soccer Athletes of the Week: Week of August 21 - 27

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of August 21-27.  Rochester Community and Technical College swept the three awards for the first week of the season. Goalkeeper, Tayea Popillion, has been named the Women's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week after saving two shots against Lake Superior College for her first collegiate shutout. RCTC center back, Keely Troup, scored her first collegiate goal and captained the Yellowjackets defense to a 9-0 shutout win to earn the Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award. Teammate Mackenzie Polson, forward, earned the week's Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award after scoring three goals and picking up two assists in the win.

Riverland Community College goalkeeper, Camden Williams, earned the MCAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week honor. Williams had seven saves in his 90 minutes of action and gave up only one goal in the team's 1-1 tie with Hamline University JV. Teammate Diego Prada, center back, picked up the Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award, scoring the Blue Devil's one goal and the first of his collegiate career. Minnesota West Community and Technical College striker, Anton Cordes, earned the Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week honor after scoring two goals on seven shots in a 4-4 tie with Lake Superior College.
