MCAC Winter Sports Athletes of the Week: Week of December 11-17

Rochester, MN - 

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports weekly awards for the week of December 11-17.

Tiyana Schwinghammer, strong forward for Northland Community and Technical College, earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week.  Schwinghammer scored 32 points, grabbed 22 rebounds, blocked six shots, had nine assists, and stole 3 balls as she led the Pioneers to wins over #2 Minnesota West and DII Dakota College-Bottineau. Central Lakes College forward Jaiquavious Ackey scored 40 points, secured 18 rebounds, stole two balls, and assisted on 4 shots in his team's two wins this past week to earn the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Ackey shot an impressive 74% from the field in his 46 minutes of action.  

Jada James, forward for Rochester Community and Technical College, went 18 for 38 from the field, shooting 47%, and scored 43 points in wins over Joliet Junior College and DI Bismarck State College to earn the week's MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week. James grabbed 25 rebounds and had two assists and three steals in 75 minutes of playing time for the Yellowjackets.   Cullen Rauls, point guard for Western Technical College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. In the Cavaliers' three games this week, Rauls scored 73 points, averaging 24.3 points per game, while also adding 10 rebounds, 10 assists, four steals, and two blocks to his stats. He shot 88.2% from the charity stripe (15 for 17) and 50% from behind the three-point arc (12 for 24). 

In another notable South Division men's basketball performance, Nazih Chehade, guard for Riverland Community College, shot 89% from the field (16-18) and 83% from behind the arc (5-6) to help the Blue Devils to two wins over MCAC North Division opponents.
