The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports weekly awards for the week of February 19-25.
Deetra Davis, forward for Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range, earned this week's MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Davis scored 29 points in 69 minutes of action and added 33 rebounds, four steals, and a block in the two games the Norse played. She also assisted on four baskets. Davis grabbed her 200th rebound of the season and ranks 8th in the MCAC in rebounding. Central Lakes College guard Quamar Gresham scored 44 points in only 47 minutes of action, shooting 43.8% from the field and 52.9% from behind the three-point arc. Gresham grabbed nine rebounds, dished eight assists, and added three steals to lead his Raiders team to two more wins. Gresham earned this week's MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award.
Rochester Community and Technical College forward Jada James scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds while adding three assists and four steals in her 38 minutes of action. James had a crucial steal and score late in the game to secure a victory for the Yellowjackets over #4 Anoka-Ramsey Community College. With the win, James helped her team claim the MCAC South Division title, and for her performance, James earned the week's MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week honor. Teddy Collins Jr, forward for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award after scoring 30 points against Ridgewater College. Collins shot 61.1% from the field and 75% from the three-point line, while also grabbing seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal. With the Bluejays win, Collins helped his team end their season on a two game win streak.
