MCAC Men's Basketball All-Conference and All-Division Teams Released

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) men's basketball coaches have selected the 2023-24 MCAC North and South All-Division teams and the All-MCAC team, division coaches-of-the-year, and division players-of-the-year.  The 14-member All-Division teams were selected by the head coaches of each division, and the top seven vote-getters from each division were named to the All-MCAC team.

Quamar Gresham, sophomore guard for Central Lakes College, was chosen as this season's MCAC North Player-of-the-Year.  Gresham shot 47.8% from the floor, 37.4% from 3-point range, and led the MCAC this season with an 84.6% shooting percentage from the free throw line. In his 29 games, he averaged 20.1 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game. Gresham had 67 assists, 44 steals, and four blocks, and he led the MCAC North in total points scored this season with 583. Gresham helped lead his team to a 19-10 overall record and a 10-2 record in the MCAC North. The Raiders claimed the #2 seed from the MCAC North in this weekend's NJCAA Region 13 Tournament and will play Anoka-Ramsey Community College on Friday in the quarterfinals.   

Bill Engel, the head men's basketball coach at Minnesota North College - Rainy River, was named the MCAC North Coach-of-the-Year for the second year in a row. Engel led his Voyageurs' team to the MCAC North Division title, compiling a 24-2 overall record and an 11-1 record in the MCAC North this season.  Rainy River is ranked as the #9 team in the latest NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball poll. Engel's Voyageurs will enter the NJCAA Region 13 Men's Basketball Tournament this weekend as the #1 seed from the North and will play St. Cloud Technical and Community College in the quarterfinal round on Friday.

Savier McCall, sophomore forward for Riverland Community College, was selected as the MCAC South Player-of-the-Year.  In his 28 games this season, McCall averaged 16.0 points per game and shot 53.6% from the field, 43.9% from behind the arc, and 79.2% from the free throw line. He scored 448 points, blocked 19 balls, had 31 steals, dished out 82 steals, and grabbed 194 rebounds this season, and he led the MCAC South Division in field goals made (105) and was second in total points in South Division games with 252. McCall's Blue Devils claimed a share of the MCAC South Division title with their 13-1 division record and 27-2 overall record, and they are currently ranked #6 in the NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball poll. Riverland is the #1 seed from the MCAC South in this weekend's NJCAA Region 13 Men's Basketball Tournament and will play Minnesota North College-Itasca in the quarterfinals on Friday. 

Brian LaPlante, the head men's basketball coach at Rochester Community & Technical College, was named the MCAC South Division Coach-of-the-Year.  LaPlante led his Yellowjackets' team to an 18-8 overall record and a 13-1 record in the MCAC South, claiming a share of the MCAC South title.  The Yellowjackets are ranked #10 in the latest NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball poll, and LaPlante will take his team to the NJCAA Region 13 Tournament as the #2 seed from the MCAC South. On Friday, they will take on Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range in the quarterfinal round.
