Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball - NJCAA Region XIIIA Champions

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team defeated #1 Rochester 72-67 on Sunday afternoon to claim the 2024 NJCAA Region XIIIA Championship, along with the North Plains District A Championship, and secure an automatic berth to the NJCAA DIII National Tournament.

Makayla Holten was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player, and head coach Samantha Doucette was named North Plains District A Coach of the Year.

The Golden Rams fell behind 43-34 at halftime, but used a 21-11 third quarter to take a one point lead into the fourth.

Anoka-Ramsey built an eight point lead with a minute left, before Rochester trimmed the lead to three with three seconds to go.  But timely free throws by Jordan McMahon sealed the win.

The Golden Rams shot 44.1 percent overall and held Rochester to 34.9 percent.

Holten scored 22 points on 8 of 15 shooting while adding seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

McMahon finished with 20 points on 6 of 12 shooting and 7 of 8 free throws.

Bella Kanz scored 15 points, and Alana Pettis tallied seven points and nine rebounds.

Anoka-Ramsey awaits seeding for the NJCAA National Tournament to see when they will play.  The NJCAA National Tournament is March 13-16 in Rochester, MN.
