The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its softball weekly awards for the week of April 1-7.
Emma Tautges, a right-handed pitcher for Central Lakes College, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Pitcher of the Week honor. Tautges went 2-0 in her two starts, pitching 12 innings and only giving up two earned runs. She had 16 strikeouts, gave up only one walk, and scattered six hits while compiling a weekly ERA of 1.17. Isabelle Pennertz, first baseman for Central Lakes College, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Pennertz went 8 for 11 from the plate, hitting .727, with two doubles, a triple, and a home run. She drove in seven runs and scored three, and she played errorless defense in her three games during the week.
Callie Elg, a right-handed pitcher for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, started one game, throwing five innings and earning the win after striking out three batters and giving up only two earned runs. Elg scattered five hits over the five innings and walked two batters, while also hitting .600 with a double and three RBI to earn the MCAC South Division Pitcher of the Week award. Shakira Olson, centerfielder for Ridgewater College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Olson went 8 for 10 from the plate, hitting .800, with three doubles and two triples. She added an RBI and scored seven runs in addition to her three stolen bases to help Ridgewater pick up two wins.
