The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its softball weekly awards for the week of April 8-14.
Central Lakes College's right-handed pitcher, Kaitlyn Geschwill, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Pitcher of the Week honor after picking up two more wins by pitching seven scoreless innings. Geschwill gave up two hits and struck out 16 batters in her two appearances, both starts. She ranks first in the MCAC North in earned run average with a 1.78 ERA and strikeouts with 93 on the season. Emma Simon, infielder for Central Lakes College, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Simon went six for seven from the plate, hitting .857, with two doubles and a home run. She also had nine runs batted in and seven runs scored while walking once. Simon hit her first career home run, a grand slam against MNC-Vermilion.
Jenna Boos, a left-handed pitcher for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, went 2-0 during the week, throwing 10 innings and giving up only three hits and one earned run. Boos struck out 18 batters and walked only two, while also hitting .600 and scoring five runs, to earn the MCAC South Division Pitcher of the Week award. Mirrah Wells, 2B/catcher for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Softball Position Player of the Week award after hitting .590 and going 13 for 22 at the plate. Wells had a double, two triples, and two home runs while driving in 13 runs and scoring 12. She also walked once and stole seven bases.
