The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its softball weekly awards for the week of April 15-21.
Central Lakes College's right-handed pitcher, Kaitlyn Geschwill, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Pitcher of the Week honor. Going 3-1 during the week with three starts, Geschwill gave up five earned runs, six total runs, and 13 hits over 22.1 innings. She struck out 42 batters and walked only six while compiling a 1.58 ERA for the week. Jaylynn Verrier, second baseman for Minnesota North College - Rainy River, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Verrier went 14 for 24 from the plate, hitting .583, with three doubles and two home runs. She drove in six runs and scored 11 times, walking once and stealing six bases.
Jasmine Knick, a right-handed pitcher for Ridgewater College, went 1-0 during the week and threw a complete game, giving up four earned runs on six hits. Knick struck out 11 batters, walked two, and gave up a total of six runs over her seven innings of work to earn the MCAC South Division Pitcher of the Week award. Ella Filk, third baseman for Ridgewater College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Softball Position Player of the Week honor after hitting a perfect 1.000, going 7 for 7 from the plate. Filk had a double and two home runs. She drove in six runs and scored four, helping the Warriors pick up two more wins.
