The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its softball weekly awards for the week of April 29-May 5.
Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range's left-handed pitcher, Hailey Greenly, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Pitcher of the Week award. In her six starts, Greenly picked up two wins and struck out 28 batters. She had an earned run average of 5.88 on the week and averaged 5.92 strikeouts per seven innings of work. Greenly helped her Norse team qualify for the North Plains District 13B Tournament. Hannah Simchak, first baseman for Minnesota North College - Vermilion, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Simchak hit .538, going 7 for 13 from the plate with nine runs batted in and five runs scored. She also went yard on three of her plate appearances and had 29 putouts in the field with one assist.
Jenna Boos, a left-handed pitcher for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, picks up her second straight MCAC South Division Pitcher of the Week award after going 2-0 in her two starts. Boos did not give up an earned run in 10 innings in the circle and struck out 12 batters while scattering seven hits and walking two. She also blasted two home runs and stole two bases, helping her Cyclones to four more wins and a share of the MCAC South title. Kennedy Biegler, catcher/DP for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, went 7 for 9 from the plate, hitting .778 on the week to earn the MCAC South Division Softball Position Player of the Week honor. Biegler had a double, a triple, and a home run while driving in four runs and scoring five runs.
