MCAC Soccer POW; Regional Tournament Pairings Set

Rochester, Mn-

The NJCAA Region XIII men's soccer tournament field is set and the last week of regular season competition has also yielded the current edition of the MCAC Soccer Player-of-Week.

In a set of back-to-back matches for Anoka-Ramsey Community College, goalkeeper  Jordan Paton led the Golden Rams to two wins, one of which was in shutout fashion.  Paton backstopped his squad in a non-conference 4-0 win over the JV team from the College of St. Scholastica and was also in net for Anoka-Ramsey in a 3-2 win over MCAC foe Riverland Community College.  The win on the road for ARCC allowed them to claim the #3 seed in the region, and helped move Anoka-Ramsey's record to within one win of .500, as the Anoka-Ramsey is now 6-7-1 overall and 2-2 in Conference play.

The Golden Rams will close out the regular season with a non-conference match against the JV of the University of St. Thomas on Saturday, October 14th.  NJCAA Regional action commences on Wednesday, October 18th.

The single-elimination NJCAA Division III tournament format will allow for one Region XIII member to advance in NJCAA play.  The pairings, released earlier this week, are as follows:

October 18 – Region Semi-finals:

#4 Riverland Community College @ #1 Lake Superior College

#3 Anoka-Ramsey Community College @ #2 Century College

October 21 – Regional Championship @ Highest Remaining Seed

In 2016, Anoka-Ramsey Community College advanced to the District stage of the competition, falling to Richland College in Texas, 2-0 in the District Semi-final.  This fall, Lake Superior College has claimed the top seed and will host #4 Riverland Community College.  ARCC will travel to 2nd seeded Century College in the other semi-final match.  Winners on October 18th will meet at the higher seed on October 21 to determine the Region XIII champion.
