The Minnesota College Athletic Conference and Twin Cities Gateway recently announced a partnership between the two organizations for the 2017-18 academic year.
Representing the communities of Anoka, Blaine, Coon Rapids, Fridley, Ham Lake, Lino Lakes, Mounds View, New Brighton, and Shoreview, the Twin Cities Gateway region is home of the National Sports Center in Blaine, which is the largest amateur athletic complex in the world.
Whether traveling for business, or pleasure, the Twin Cities Gateway offers more choices, more value, and more fun.
As the 2017-18 academic year and the MCAC fall sports season kick off in late August, the partnership is timely for both organizations. The Coon Rapids campus of Anoka-Ramsey Community College will serve as host to several MCAC and NJCAA regional competitions this year, including the MCAC Men's Basketball state tournament, the MCAC Volleyball Crossover Tournament, as well as several Conference and NJCAA regional administrative meetings.
In addition, Twin Cities Gateway is an active recruiter of regional and national sporting events to the metro, making it a natural partner for the largest two-year college athletic conference in the Upper Midwest.
"We have several MCAC programs which travel to, and through, the north metro in the course of the year. Our conference is also working to establish new competitions and events which feature our member colleges and Twin Cities Gateway will be a strong partner to help us work towards those goals." noted director, Peter Watkins. The lead resource for Minnesota College Athletic Conference teams which seek to get the best deals on hotels, team dining and related travel components will be Al Stauffacher, Sports Marketing Director for Twin Cities Gateway and a former MCAC student-athlete at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Stauffacher and TCG have been successful in attracting sporting events such as the Tough Mudder X to Hugo, Minnesota, an event which included a partnership with CBS Sports, resulting in approximately 11,000 visitors to the north Metro area.
