Collegiate Varsity Clay Target Teams Set to Begin this Fall

Rochester, MN-

A collaboration between the Minnesota College Athletic Conference and the USA High School Clay Target League will provide two-year member college students the opportunity to compete in the first-of-it's kind Varsity Clay Target / Trap Shooting season this fall. 

Eleven two-year colleges across the MCAC, including new members Lake Region State College, Pine Technical College and Southwest Wisconsin Technical College will field teams this fall.  With the launch of the new league, the Minnesota College Athletic Conference and the USA Clay Target League seek to address a few Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) as the enrollment and registration deadlines are approaching.

Which Colleges will field Varsity Teams this Fall?Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College; Hibbing Community College; Itasca Community College; Lake Superior College; Lake Region State College, Mesabi Range College; Minnesota West CTC;  Northland Community & Technical College, Pine Technical College; Southwest Wisconsin Technical College and Vermilion Community College

Is there a deadline to join a team?: Yes. All participating teams have a roster deadline of Friday, August 31.  

What should I do if I am interested in learning more about joining the team at my school?:  Contact the coach and/or athletic director.  CLICK HERE for a list of campus contacts or visit the website of your specific college.

Should I wait until the first day of classes to contact a coach?: No. By emailing and/or calling the coach at your college, you can begin some important registration steps before meeting in person. 

My college is not listed as participating this year; how can we get our school to join?:  Several two-year colleges in Minnesota have contacted the MCAC and USA Clay Target regarding teams for the fall of 2019.  Talk with the athletic department at your school to learn if there is a club team or community team option this fall.  Also, work with your campus and have them contact Peter.Watkins@NorthlandCollege.Edu or JNelson@mnclaytarget.com
