MCAC Baseball Heads into Busy Weekend

Rochester, Mn-

Minnesota College Athletic Conference baseball teams head into the busiest weekend yet in league play, with no less than fifteen double-headers taking place between Friday, April 21st and Sunday, April 23rd.

The lightest docket occurs Friday afternoon, with Central Lakes College traveling downstate to take on Riverland Community College in non-divisional play.  Just down the road on I-90, Rochester CTC will host the JV team of Saint Mary's (Mn) University in a single game afternoon tilt.

Saturday will see several key match-ups in MCAC play.  Riverland CC will travel to the Golden Rams of Anoka Ramsey, #3 St. Cloud Technical and Community College will head to Brainerd to take on Central Lakes and Ridgewater and Minnesota State will square off in Fergus Falls. Rochester CTC heads to Worthington to compete against Minnesota West, to round out Southern Division action.

In the northern part of the state, Rainy River CC heads to Mesabi Range College, neighbors Itasca CC and Hibbing CC tangle, while Northland CTC gets in some non-conference action by hosting the JV team of Minnesota-Crookston.

MCAC teams continue play into Sunday, as Hibbing and Itasca swap sites to play two more contests, Northland CTC travels to Minnesota State and Mesabi and Rainy River play again, this time in International Falls. Anoka Ramsey will head south to play at Rochester CTC, and Western Technical College will head over to Worthington for a double header at Minnesota West. Nationally-ranked SCTCC will go to Ridgewater to round out the weekend action.

As one looks at the Division standings, SCTCC and Minnesota State both sit 2-0 in the Central, Itasca is unbeaten at 6-0 in the North, while Minnesota West has enjoyed a 2-0 start in the South, but have their eye on Riverland, who boasts a 15-4 overall record.
