Soccer Athletes claim Players-of-the-Week Honors

Rochester, Mn-

In an important and exciting week of soccer action for several MCAC squads, a pair of student-athletes have been named Players-of-the-Week in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.

Anoka-Ramsey continued their dominance of women's soccer in the Conference and Region XIII, as they swept through the past several days picking up a pair of wins over Rochester Community and Technical College, the second of which gave ARCC the Region XIII championship and a spot in the NJCAA District Tournament, which they will host at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, on Saturday.   Goals win socccer games and Golden Ram forward Kati Beckman has more of them then anyone else in Region XIII; 17 in fact, leading the MCAC and placing her in the top 20 in goals scored.  Beckman also has 11 assists on the year, which is also a Top 20 mark.  MCAC Soccer Player-of-the-Week Kati Beckman and her ARCC teammates will learn on Wednesday their opponent for the Saturday showdown.

Lake Superior College men's soccer student-athlete and goalkeeper Mike Petoletti wrapped up his season in the NJCAA regional semi-finals, losing 4-1 to Anoka Ramsey Community College.  Petoletti finished his season ranked 5th in the NJCAA in save percentage (.864) and in the top 20 in both goals against and goals against average for the IceHawks, who posted a 6-5-1 overall record.  MCAC Soccer Player-of-the-Week honors in men's soccer go to Petoletti to conclude the men's soccer MCAC regular season and Regional seasons.
