Rainy River and Anoka-Ramsey Grab Weekly Honors

Rochester, MN-

In a week of strong statistical performances in women's basketball, two student-athletes in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference were key components in a 2-0 MCAC start for their teams in Divisional play.  In doing so, both earned Conference Player-of-the-Week honors. 

Kaylee Porisch, a freshman for Anoka-Ramsey Community College and Daeja Monroe  of Rainy River Community College both turned in impressive performances for the week ending on January 13, and have been named MCAC Northern Division and Southern Division Players-of-the-Week for their efforts.

Daeja Monroe helped lead Rainy River Community College to a 2-0 start to Divisional play with two solid all-around efforts. Monroe had 21 points and seven rebounds against nationally ranked Hibbing Community College and turned in another 31 points and six boards against Vermilion.  Monroe was also a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line against VCC. 

Monroe and her RRCC teammates will take on another nationally ranked team in Northland CTC as well as Itasca Community College this week to continue their MCAC Northern Division schedule.

Sophomore Kaylee Porisch helped her Anoka-Ramsey Community College squad get off to a great start to begin MCAC Southern Division play;  the Golden Rams went 2-0 last week and Porisch played an important part in the success of her team.

Porisch hit for 41 points against Riverland Community College, while picking up an impressive 18 rebounds in the contest.  Against Western Technical College, Porisch hit 22 points and also had 18 boards against WTC.

Anoka-Ramsey will continue Southern Division action against M-State Fergus Falls and SCTCC in the second full week of MCAC South play.
