While there is still one contest yet to play in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference, eight post-season participants have punched their tickets to the playoffs in the NJCAA Region XIIIA and XIIIB tournaments.
Rochester Community & Technical College is still scheduled to play M State-Fergus Falls in a make-up contest in women's hoops leaving some details unknown, but the top four teams in both the MCAC Northern and Southern Divisions have distanced themselves from their counterparts as they head to the playoffs.
Western Technical College ran away with the Southern Division hardware in 2018-19, posting an unbeaten 12-0 MCAC mark; the balanced Cavalier squad captured the No. 1 seed for the Region XIIIA tournament to be held in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Anoka-Ramsey Community College earned a second place Divisional finish at 10-2 as the Golden Rams have won six of their last seven games and look to be playing well heading into the post-season. Minnesota West and Rochester CTC have secured bids to the tournament; seeding of the two teams - which have 1-1 records against each other - depends on the aforementioned RCTC - M State contest. College administrations at both schools are working to find an opporunity to conduct the game as southeast Minnesota is currently in blizzard conditions which are forecasted into Monday. Once the Southern Division slate is completed, the final two seeds of the Region XIIIA tournament field will be allocated.
Like their Southern Division counterparts, teams in the Northern Division battled down to the wire to decide post-season programs. Hibbing Community College and Northland Community & Technical College traded wins on home courts and finished with identical 15-1 Divisonal records. The Divisional co-champions participated in a coin flip which was won by Hibbing, resulting in the Cardinals having the right to host the Region XIIIB post-season competition. Central Lakes College sits comfortably at 11-5 and will be the No. 3 seed in Region XIIIB, while Rainy River's 9-6 mark moves them into the fourth and final playoff spot.
