MCAC Volleyball Week 10 Northern Division Player-of-the-Week

The final week of regular season play in volleyball throughout the Minnesota College Athletic Conference yielded plenty of movement in the final standings of both Divisions and saw Central Lakes College finish unbeaten in the North at 14-0. Several outstanding individual performances were a part of the season-ending contests, and the best of those nominated have been named 'Players-of-the-Week'.  

 

Defensive Player-of-the-Week: 

 

Kahlen Manthey  of Central Lakes College has earned the Defensive Player-of-the-Week.  The Sauk Rapids, Minnesota product tallied 41 digs in the final week of MCAC regular season play for the Raiders.  The libero also collected five aces and turned in a 3.72 digs per set average in Week 10 for CLC, who is the #1 seed and host school for the 2017 NJCAA Region XIIIB tournament this weekend. 

 

Setter-of-the-Week:

 

Alli Sandberg , a Mesabi Range freshman from Cook, Minnesota, has earned Northern Division Setter-of-the-Week honors in Week 10.  Sandberg averaged 7.00 Set Assists/Set, 0.36 Blocks/Set, and 1.91 Digs/Set this past week.   In the LadyNorse match against Fond du Lac, Sandberg tallied 13 set assists and a pair of blocks.  Against Itasca Community College, she dished out 51 set assists, 13 digs and two additional blocks on the week.  MRC concludes their season at 12-15 overall and 5-9 in Northern Division action. 

 

Hitter of the Week:

 

Central Lakes College student-athlete Hannah Peltier  has claimed Week 10 Hitter-of-the-Week in the Northern Division of MCAC Volleyball.  Peltier, of Dresser, Wisconsin, had an impressive resume', including 32 kills for the week and only 6 errors, resulting in a .473% in that category.  The Raider outside hitter and her Central Lakes teammates will begin defense of their NJCAA Region XIIIB title this weekend, when they host the 2017 Region tournament. The #1 seeded CLC squad finished the season at 23-8 overall and an unbeaten 14-0 MCAC North mark. 

 

All-Around Player-of-the-Week: 

 

Northland CTC student-athlete,  Shantel Verbout , has had a dominant season for the Pioneers and Week 10 was no exception for the sophomore from Grygla, Minnesota.  In matches against Hibbing Community College and Rainy River Community College in the last week of regular season action, Verbout  totaled 27 kills, five solo blocks and four assist blocks to claim the All-Around Player-of-the-Week title.  She also registered 17 digs and five set assists while helping NCTC earn the #2 seed in the NJCAA Region XIIIB tournament, to be held at Central Lakes College on Friday and Saturday, November, 3rd and 4th.
