U.S. Marines MCAC Baseball Athletes of the Week: Week of April 4 - 10

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball athlete-of-the-week awards for the week of April 4 -10.  The baseball athlete-of-the-week awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines

Riley Resnick, Itasca Community College pitcher, earns the MCAC North Pitcher-of-the-Week after striking out 13 batters and putting together a 2.70 ERA over 10 innings of work last week. Mesabi Range College second baseman, Dawson Tweet, hit .500 with 3 home runs and 9 RBI to earn the MCAC North Player-of-the-Week.

Central Lakes College pitcher, Noah Cekalla, is the week's MCAC Central Pitcher-of-the-Week.  Cekalla threw a one-hitter with 6 strikeouts in 5 innings in his win. Rylee Rauch, second baseman for Central Lakes College, went 3 for 5 from the plate, hitting .600 with a double and a triple to earn the MCAC Central Player-of-the-Week.

Drew Copley, Riverland Community College pitcher, threw 7 innings and gave up only 2 hits and no runs in his one appearance last week, and earns the MCAC South Pitcher-of-the-Week honor.  Copley's teammate and the Blue Devils short stop, Jared Grams, went 16 for 22, hitting .727 with 16 RBI and 4 home runs to pick up the week's MCAC South Player-of-the-Week award.

Itasca Community College sophomore pitcher, Riley Resnick, appeared in two games during the week, going 1-0 while striking out 13 and walking 6 in his 10 innings of action. The Twin Valley, MN product gave up only 3 runs and had a 2.70 weekly ERA. Resnick is this week's MCAC North Pitcher-of-the-Week. 

The Vikings are 8-12 on the season, and next play Mesabi Range College on Friday. 

 

Dawson Tweet

Russell, Manitoba, CAN

 

 

 

Dawson Tweet has been named the MCAC North Player-of-the-Week. The sophomore second baseman for Mesabi Range College went 8 for 16 (.500) from the plate, with three home runs and 9 RBI. The Russell, Manitoba native scored 4 runs and stole 4 bases as well.

Mesabi Range is now 4-16 on the season, and they return to action on Friday against Itasca Community College in Aurora, MN.

Daniel Wensloff (OF/P, Itasca CC): 9 for 20, .450 BA, 3 doubles, 8 RBI, 6 runs, and 3 stolen bases. Picked up a save on the mound.

Noah Cekalla, freshman pitcher at Central Lakes College, threw a one-hit wonder last week in his 5 innings of work to earn the MCAC Central Pitcher-of-the-Week honor.  Cekalla, from Pierz, MN struck out six and compiled a 0.00 weekly ERA. 

The Raiders are 15-8 on the season and 4-0 in the MCAC Central.  They take the field again on Friday at Century College.

 

Riley Rauch

Pierz, MN

 

 

 

Central Lakes College second baseman and shortstop, Riley Rauch, went 3 for 5 from the plate for a .600 batting average to earn the MCAC Central Player-of-the-Week honor.  The freshman from Pierz, MN had a double, a triple, and scored 3 runs for his Raiders.  

Central Lakes is 15-8 overall and 4-0 in the MCAC Central, and they next play again on Friday at Century College.

Drew Copley, right-handed pitcher for Riverland Community College, earns this week's MCAC South Pitcher-of-the-Week honor.  The freshman from Grand Meadow, MN threw 7 innings of 2 hit, 0 run work in his one appearance of the week. Copley also struck out 9 while only walking four batters as he put together a 0.00 weekly ERA.

Riverland Community College is 10-12 on the season and 4-0 in the MCAC South, and they return to the field on Tuesday hosting Minnesota State - Fergus Falls. 

 

Jared Grams

Mankato, MN

 

 

Riverland Community College shortstop, Jared Grams, went 16 for 22from the plate (.727 avg.) with three doubles and four home runs to earn the week's MCAC South Player-of-the-Week honor.  The freshman from Mankato, MN scored eleven runs with 16 RBI and a stolen base during the week.

The Blue Devils are 10-11 on the season and 4-0 in the MCAC South.  They host Minnesota State - Fergus Falls on Tuesday.
