Rochester, MN –

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) office has announced the MCAC Baseball All-Division awards for the 2022 season.

MCAC Baseball is divided into three divisions – North, Central, and South.  In the North Division, Itasca Community College claimed the division championship, with Mesabi Range College, Northland Community and Technical College, Hibbing Community College, Vermilion Community College, and Rainy River Community College also competing in the division.  The Central Division title went to Central Lakes College, with St. Cloud Technical and Community College, Ridgewater College, Minnesota State Community and Technical College, and Anoka-Ramsey Community College rounding out the division.  The division championship in the South Division was secured by Rochester Community and Technical College, with Century College, Riverland Community College, Western Technical College, and Minnesota West Community and Technical College giving them a run.

Following the conclusion of the regular season, MCAC baseball coaches nominated and ranked the players for each division.  The top players from each division, based on rankings at their position, were then named to the MCAC All-Division Team. Coaches in each division also selected their Player-of-the-Year and Coach-of-the-Year.

In the MCAC North Division, Dawson Tweet fromMesabi Range College was selected as the Player-of-the-Year, and his coach, Chris Vito, was selected as the Coach-of-the-Year.  Tweet hit .468 on the season in his 115 at-bats and scored 21 runs while hitting 5 home runs, 10 doubles, and two triples.  The sophomore infielder drove in 25 runs and stole 7 bases.  He also put together a .975 fielding percentage on the season.  Mesabi Range, under the direction of Coach Vito, finished the regular season with a 13-21 overall record and 5-5 in the division.

Drew Beier, 2nd year freshman shortstop and right-handed pitcher at St. Cloud Technical and Community College, earned the MCAC Central Division Player-of-the-Year award, while Central Lakes College head coach, Brian Voigt was chosen as the Central Division Coach-of-the-Year.  Beier played in 29 games and hit .427 from the plate with 44 hits, 15 of which were for extra bases.  He also drove in 25 runs and scored 27 times himself.  Beier recorded a 6-0 record from the mound with a season ERA of 1.99.  Coach Voigt led his Raiders to a 26-13 overall record and 13-3 divisional record.

The MCAC South Division Player-of-the-Year honor went to Ben Clapp from Century College; and Rochester Community and Technical College skipper, Clark Jones, earned the South Division Coach-of-the-Year award.  Clapp, a freshman DH and infielder, had 55 hits on 160 plate appearances, scoring 34 runs and driving in 44. Clapp hit .414 on the season with a .752 slugging percentage, going yard 9 times while also hitting one triple and 16 doubles. Coach Clark led his Yellowjackets squad to a 26-12 overall record and 14-2 in the South Division.
