MCAC Baseball Athletes of the Week: Week of March 20-26

Rochester, MN - 

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of March 20 - 26.

Hunter Vikemyr, right-handed pitcher for Riverland Community College, has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. Giving up only 2 hits in 4-innings on the mound, Vikemyr again held his opponent scoreless.  He struck out 9 in the win, and hit 2 doubles and scored 2 runs at the plate as well.  Luis Rodriguez, Rochester Community & Technical College third baseman, went 5 for 6 from the plate, hitting .833 and scoring 4 runs in his one game.  He also had 3 RBI and no errors in the field to earn this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week honor.

Minnesota State Community & Technical College right-handed pitcher, Brett Engelmeyer, earned the MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor for the second straight week. In his one start, Engelmeyer threw 6-innings striking out 4 and giving up 3 earned runs.  Jackson Martin, first baseman for Minnesota State Community & Technical College, earned the week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.  Martin hit .429 on the week, going 3 for 7 with two triples and a home run, 5 RBI and 3 runs.  He hit a walk-off three-run homer to secure the win over MNC-Vermilion.

Juan Alcoverde, right-handed pitcher for Minnesota North College - Rainy River, has earned this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Alcoverde threw two innings in relief and struck out 5 without giving up a hit or run.  He only walked one in the outing.  Minnesota North College - Vermilion first baseman/DH, Chase Snyder, hit .750 going 3 for 4 at the plate with a double, a triple, 4 RBI and 2 runs.  For his effort, Snyder earns the week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
