MCAC Baseball Athletes of the Week: Week of April 10-16

Rochester, MN - 

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of April 10-16.

Century College right-handed pitcher, Ty Valiton, has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Valiton went 1-0 in his one start during the week, throwing 7-innings, and giving up only one earned run.  He struck out 12 and gave up 5 hits with no walks.  Rees Campanale, Rochester Community & Technical College RF/DH, went 7 for 10 from the plate (.700 batting average) with 2 home runs, a triple, and a double.  Campanale scored 5 runs and had 9 RBI on the week to earn this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week honor.

Alexandria Technical & Community College left-handed pitcher, Jalen Vorpahl, earned the MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor. Vorpahl was 1-0 throwing a 5-inning complete game 2-hit shutout. He struck out 8 and didn't give up a run or walk.  Chuck Hackett, third baseman for Alexandria Technical & Community College, earned the week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.  Hackett went 5 for 8 from the plate, a .625 batting average, with one home run, a double, 4 RBI, and 3 runs scored.

Marcus Kriek, right-handed pitcher for Minnesota North College - Rainy River, has earned this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. In his one appearance, Kriek threw 3 innings of shutout relief. He gave up no hits and struck out 2 with no walks. Minnesota North College - Itasca first baseman, Avery Liestman, went 5 for 7 from the plate, hitting .715 with a double and a home run.  Liestman had 5 RBI and scored 5 runs to earn the week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
