MCAC Volleyball Athletes of the Week: Week of August 21 - 27

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of August 21-27.  Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range middle blocker, Addy Gangl, earned the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week honor. Gangl hit .309 on the week with 86 kills in 217 attempts, and she leads the nation in kills per set, averaging 5.73 kills per set last week. Central Lakes College setter, Emma Simon, was named the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete-of-the-Week. In her three sets, Simon had 16 digs (5.33 digs per set) and served two aces.  

In the South Division, Alexis Helmin, middle hitter for Century College, had 48 kills in 91 swings, hitting .418 on the week and averaging 3.43 kills per set. She also served an ace and had 10 block assists to earn this week's South Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week award. Gabrielle Schwirtz, setter for Century College, had 44 digs and 10 service aces in 14 sets to earn the South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award. Schwirtz added 74 set assists and five block assists to cap off her week.
