MCAC Soccer Athletes of the Week: Week of August 28 - September 3

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of August 28 - September 3. For the second straight week, Rochester Community and Technical College swept the three women's soccer awards. Goalkeeper Tayea Popillion earned her second MCAC Women's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week award in as many weeks. Popillion saved seven shots on goal and gave up only one goal in the Yellowjackets 1-1 tie with Dakota County Technical College. Yellowjackets center back, Keely Troup, again captained the defense which only allowed eight shots on goal in 90 minutes of action, and earned the Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award again this week. McKenna Baker, forward for RCTC, earned the week's Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award after scoring the team's lone goal. Baker took five total shots and three on goal.

Riverland Community College goalkeeper, Camden Williams, earned the MCAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week honor for the second straight week. Williams had six saves and did not give up a goal in 120 minutes of action over his two games. Alex Ulrich, defender for the Blue Devils, picked up the Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award. Scoring one goal and adding an assist while taking four shots on goal, Ulrich helped his team earn an 11-0 win over Oak Hills Christian College. Blue Devils' midfielder Said Geelle, earned the Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week honor after scoring one goal in his three shots on goal and picking up two assists to lead his team to a shutout against Oak Hills Christian College.
