MCAC Volleyball Athletes of the Week: Week of August 28 - September 3

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of August 28 - September 3.  Central Lakes College setter, Gretchen Eckhoff, earned the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week honor. Eckhoff led her Raiders team to their first conference win of the season by assisting on 28 kills, an average of 4.67 assists per set, serving five aces, and picking up six digs in her six sets played. Cyra Polk, libero for Minnesota North College - Rainy River, was named the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete-of-the-Week. In her three sets, Polk had 17 digs (5.67 digs per set) and served three aces to help the Voyageurs to a win over MNC-Vermilion.  

In the South Division, Century College athletes swept the awards for the second straight week. Jamie Ihfe, right-side hitter for the Wood Ducks, had 14 kills in 27 swings, hitting .370 on the week and averaging 2.80 kills per set to earn the South Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week award. Outside hitter Kiyomi Callahan had 25 digs, a block assist, and three service aces in 6 sets to earn the South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award. Callahan helped her team pick up two more wins as she had 21 kills and hit .255 on the week.
