MCAC Volleyball Athletes of the Week: Week of September 4 - 10

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of September 4-10. 

Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range middle blocker, Addy Gangl, continues to dominate the court. Gangl had 67 kills on 166 swings and hit .313 to lead the Norse to two more division wins and earn the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week honor. Gangl averaged 6.09 kills per set and added five service aces to her stat line for the week.  Teammate Jerzie Gustafson, libero, was named the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete-of-the-Week. In eleven sets, Gustafson scooped up 67 digs, averaging 6.09 digs per set, and added a service ace.   

In the South Division, Century College middle blocker, Alexis Helmin, picks up her second South Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week award this season. In nine sets, Helmin had 24 kills, hitting .488, and a service ace to help her team to three more wins during the week and a #1 national ranking. Minnesota West Community and Technical College libero, Ella Hesse, picks up her first South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award after digging 65 balls in nine sets, averaging 5.91 digs per set, and serving three aces. Hesse's defense has helped the Blue Jays move into the national rankings at #14 this week.
