MCAC Volleyball Athletes of the Week: Week of October 2 - 8

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of October 2-8. 

Addy Gangl, middle blocker for Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range, earned the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week award by hitting .231 and averaging 5.92 kills per set during the week. Gangl had 77 kills and 11 service aces in 13 sets. Jenna Pelnis, Central Lakes College's libero, earned the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete-of-the-Week honor after digging 76 balls and serving seven aces in 16 sets, averaging 4.75 digs per set.  

Century College's middle blocker, Alexis Helmin, earned the South Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week award. Hitting .500, Helmin had 23 kills and only three errors on 40 swings, averaging 3.83 kills per set, and adding 5 blocks to her stats as well. Minnesota State Community and Technical College's libero, Madison Ballweg, earned the South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award, digging 36 balls in 10 sets for a 6.2 dig per set average, and she served two aces to help her Spartans' team pick up two more wins.
