MCAC Volleyball Athletes of the Week: Week of October 9-15

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of October 9-15. 

Addy Gangl, middle blocker for Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range, earned the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week award, racking up 21 kills and only 2 errors in 28 swings, hitting .679 and seven kills per set during the week. Cyra Polk, libero for Minnesota North College - Rainy River, earned the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete-of-the-Week honor. Polk averaged 5.66 digs per set, collecting 68 digs in her 12 sets, and she added three service aces to her stat line as well.  

Emily Kemp, middle blocker for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, earned the South Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week award. Kemp hit .375, killing 50 balls on 104 attempts in her 15 sets, averaging 3.3 kills per set. Rochester Community and Technical College outside hitter, Kylie Smidt, earned the South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award, digging 47 balls in 11 sets for a 4.27 dig per set average, and she served seven aces to lead her Yellowjackets to a 3-0 week.

As a noteworthy performance this week, Brooke Meyer, setter for Minnesota North College - Itasca, picked up her 1,000th career assist!
