The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports weekly awards for the week of November 20 - 26.
Alyssa Torgerson, center for Central Lakes College, earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week. In 30 minutes of action, Torgerson scored 17 points, shooting 46.7% from the field, and she grabbed 10 rebounds and had a steal and assist. Torgerson has led her Raiders team to a 4-2 record to start the season. There were no nominations for the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award.
Minnesota West Community and Technical College guard, Olivia Hayenga, has been named the week's MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week. In two games, Hayenga scored 67 points, going 22 of 49 from the field and 21 of 29 from the free throw line. Hayenga picked up 24 rebounds, 10 assists, 8 steals, and 5 blocks, leading her Lady Jays to two more wins. DeWayne Thompson, guard for Riverland Community College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. In 27 minutes of playing time, Thompson scored 23 points on 60% shooting from the field, and he grabbed 4 rebounds and a steal while assisting on 6 made shots. Thompson's scoring helped lead the Blue Devils to a convincing win over Minnesota North College - Itasca.
