MCAC Men's Basketball Players-of-the-Week

The post-season picture is starting to shape up in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference and two student-athletes stood out among their peers as they helped guide their teams closer to a spot in the playoffs this past week.  Read on for the Players-of-the-Week in the Southern and Northern Divisions of MCAC Men's Basketball, named on Tuesday, January 29 for the week ending Sunday, January 27, 2019. 

MCAC Southern Division

Deandre Raggs

So./Guard

Minneapolis, MN

In a key week of contests for Riverland Community CollegeDeandre Raggs stepped up his game in wins over Minnesota West CTC (83-79) and Anoka-Ramsey Community College (85-79) and took home Southern Division Player-of-the-Week honors in the process.  

The sophomore from Minneapolis was 11-of-15 from the field and 13-of-19 from the foul line in scoring a total of 36 points for the Blue Devils.  He also hauled in an impressive 21 rebounds while picking up four steals, dishing out four assists and adding a blocked shot. 

Riverland current sits at 5-1 in MCAC play and is 17-2 overall.  They face Division rivals SCTCC and Rochester Community & Technical College this week in a pair of important match-ups. 

 

 

 

MCAC Northern Division

Calvin Lee

So. / Guard

Monroe, LA

Calvin Lee, a sophomore guard for Mesabi Range College has been tabbed as the Northern Division Player-of-the-Week for his performance in two Norse wins this past week. 

Lee collected 49 total points in MRC victories over Hibbing Community College 92-57 and Rainy River Community College 76-61.  The Monroe, Louisiana product was 17-of-38 from the floor across the two games and hit 10-of-11 free throw attempts.  He also dished out an impressive 13 assists, hauled in ten rebounds and picked up three steals. 

Mesabi Range will face Vermilion Community College this week in MCAC Northern Division play.
