MCAC Southern Division Softball teams vie for National Tournament

Rochester, Mn- 

An exciting and competitive Minnesota College Athletic Conference women's fastpitch softball season wrapped up over the week of May 2-8 as teams took to the field in fantastic playing conditions across the state. 

In the Southern Division, the St. Cloud Technical and Community College Cyclones emerged as the regular season champion, building an impressive 19-1 division record.  With their end-of-season sweep of Ridgewater College, Anoka-Ramsey secured 2nd place at 15-5, while M-State Fergus Falls locked in the third spot, at 13-7 overall. Minnesota West's late season sweep of Riverland garnered their team 4th place overall in the Southern Division and the final seed into the NJCAA Region XIII tournament.

As a result of the MCAC South regular season finish, St. Cloud Technical and Community College will host the NJCAA Region XIIIA Tournament at River's Edge Park on May 11-12.  SCTCC will take on Minnesota West in first round play while the Anoka-Ramsey Golden Rams will compete against M-State Fergus Falls in the second half of the bracket.  

The champion of the four-team double elimination tournament will advance to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament in Rochester, MN May 18-20.
