MCAC Softball Weekly Honors

Several softball teams around the Minnesota College Athletic Conference wrapped up spring trips last week; the top performances from those contests have been named as either the Pitcher or Player-of-the-Week in MCAC Softball.

MCAC Southern Division 

Pitcher & Player-of-the-Week

 

 

Sam Patton

Fr. / Pitcher

Sauk Rapids, MN

 

Sam Patton went six innings for the win en route to her Pitcher-of-the-Week performance in MCAC Southern Division softball for the SCTCC Cyclones. 

Patton beat the College of DuPage, scattering six hits over six innings, while only conceding two earned runs.  She struck out two Chaparrals on the way to her second win of 2019; the freshman from Sauk Rapids faced 29 COD batters. 

St. Cloud Technical & Community College is scheduled to play next against Dakota College-Bottineau on Monday, March 25 at the Irish Dome in Rosemount, Minnesota.

 

 

 

 

 

                     

                         

Anna Wagner

Cokato, MN

Anna Wagner turned solid offensive and defensive performances on the way to Southern Division Player-of-the-Week honors. 

Wagner hit .375 across four games for ARCC, while also drawing a pair of walks and notching a sacrifice for the Golden Rams.  She also stole a base against Lewis & Clark Community College. Defensively, Wagner has turned in a 1.000 fielding percentage, with five assists and zero errors so far this season. 

ARCC is scheduled for action next on Friday, March 29 when they take on Hibbing, Riverland and Minnesota West at the Irish Dome in Rosemount, Minnesota. 

 

 

 

 

 

                                                                                         

MCAC Northern Division 

Pitcher & Player-of-the-Week

                                                       

 

Katie Hunter

Fr. / OF

Mt. Iron, MN

 

Katie Hunter a freshman from Mt. Iron at Mesabi Range College has earned Player-of-the-Week in the Northern Division. 

The Norse outfielder went 4-for-4 against Niagara County Community College, scoring a pair of runs and notching an RBI. Hunter also swiped three stolen bases against NCCC in helping contribute to the Norse 11-run offensive output on the day. 

Hunter and Mesabi Range are next scheduled to play on Wednesday, April 10 at Central Lakes College in a 3pm/5pm double-header in Brainerd. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Kallie Plantenberg

Soph./Pitcher

Eden Valley, MN

Kallie Plantenberg, a sophomore pitcher at Central Lakes College has been tabbed Pitcher-of-the-Week in the Northern Division. 

Plantenberg handled much of the Raider pitching workload over their last four games in Florida, facing 88 batters in the course of three contests. She also contributed at the plate, going 2-for-6 with an RBI and a base on balls. 

Central Lakes will see Riverland Community College and Hibbing Community College on Saturday, March 30 in the Irish Dome located in Rosemount, MN for their next scheduled action of the season.
